The short version
Clove oil is the second name on the Nail Defender label. It comes from the dried flower buds of the clove tree and gives the spray a clean, fresh feel and a warm scent.*
Where it comes from
Clove trees grow in tropical places such as Indonesia, Madagascar and Zanzibar. The small flower buds are picked before they open and dried in the sun until they turn dark brown. These are the same cloves you may have in your spice rack. Steam is used to draw out the oil.
Why it is in the spray
Clove has a long history in traditional care. In Nail Defender it works next to undecylenic acid on the nail surface side of the formula, supporting a clean and balanced feel.*
What you will notice
Clove oil gives the spray a light, spicy scent that blends with lavender oil. The scent is soft and fades as the spray dries.
Tip: Spray from a few inches away so the mist covers the whole nail, including the edges.
